‘NCIS’ season 14 spoilers: Young Ducky returns for ‘The Ties That Bind’

NCIS -NCIS” season 14 to date has accomplished a number of things, but one of the priorities from our vantage point seems to be an attempt on their part to really emphasize the stories of many of their characters through individual one-off stories. By and large, we’re quite a fan of this. It allows you a chance to check in with many of your individual characters during the first part of the season, and then as the show goes on, you can dive a little bit further into deeper mythology.

What they’re finding a way to do here with the Ducky character is particularly clever. Maybe as a means to give you more insight into this character without throwing too much work at one time onto David McCallum, they are bringing back the younger version of his character (played by Adam Campbell) for the upcoming December 13 episode “The Ties That Bind,” which is also going to be the Christmas installment. Within this episode, you’re going to see the team try to find evidence from the murder of a Navy captain who could have a link to his deceased mother, Ducky is going to start to question a major choice he made in his life a good 37 years ago.

We do appreciate especially the Ducky stories that involve some sort of personal reflection, so here’s to hoping that this episode will be good for that.

Meanwhile, we can also tell you that this episode will bring you another appearance from Tobias Fornell, Gibbs’ longtime friend who is basically a part of his family at this point. Judging from the fact that the two are celebrating Christmas together during this episode, we like to think of this more or less as further evidence.
