‘The Walking Dead’ season 7, episode 5 video: Chandler Riggs, Danai Gurira take center stage

So far on “The Walking Dead” season 7, differences in philosophy are clearly taking center stage. Everyone seems to be on the same page as to who the biggest threat is here in Negan, but the opinions tend to diverge in terms of how to handle him.

The Rick Grimes strategy, at least as far as we’ve seen him to date, seems to be to follow Negan’s orders and do whatever he says. While that may not be the flashiest or most-exciting thing to do in the world, you can make the argue that he’s beaten-down and broken. Or, you can make the argument that he recognizes that there could be an opportunity to flip the script down the road, and he’s just buying his time until said opportunity comes around. If that is the case, we certainly will be happy to see that Rick took his time to get himself together and then figured out precisely what his next move would be.

As for whether or not we buy into many of those morse-code theories that are floating around the internet at the moment, let’s just say that this feels a little bit unlikely.

The new sneak peek below for Sunday night’s new episode features Carl (Chandler Riggs) having a little bit of quality time with Michonne (Danai Gurira), as she does her forge ahead, standing by Rick and his current gameplan. Even if there is a part of her that doesn’t agree with it, there’s no indication here at all that she wants to drift away from precisely what he’s thinking. More than anything else, she probably recognizes the power of unity right now, and how Alexandria will crumble without it.

Will Carl’s way of thinking eventually spread? Well, that remains to be seen — for now, Michonne just wants him to make sure that he takes care of that eye.
