‘NCIS’ season 14, episode 8 preview: Bishop’s brothers and ‘Enemy Combatant’

Bishop -

After a couple of weeks off of the air, “NCIS” is finally going to return tonight! There are several different things worth looking forward to here, and this is even more true in the event you are a fan of the Ellie Bishop character. She’s someone who played a little bit of a smaller role on the show so far this season, but that will change moving into next week’s “Enemy Combatant.” Based on some of the earliest information that is out there, signs definitely seem to point towards her having a little bit of a larger role.

Synopsis – “After NCIS Agent Bishop is sent to Gitmo to gather evidence for a Navy chaplain murder case, she questions her previous work at the NSA. Also, Bishop’s brothers, John and Robert (Jesse Bradford and Jesse Johnson), visit for the Thanksgiving holiday and pester her co-workers to find out who she is dating.”

It’s somewhat-interesting that we’re getting two straight years of Bishop episodes airing at around this time. Remember, last year we had the installment of her heading home to Oklahoma to get a break from this life after what happened between her and Jake. The only tangible reason we can think of for getting two Bishop-centric episodes at around this time, other than that it’s pure coincidence, is that we’re making up somewhat for lost time to a given extent. With many other characters, we had several years to get to know them. In this particular instance, we’re not getting anywhere near that long at all.

Hopefully, at some point we’re also going to have an opportunity to learn more about the connections that Clayton Reeves, Alex Quinn, and Nick Torres also have beyond the team. After all, it is important to remember that they are also a part of the “NCIS” family, as well, and we’re definitely still in the getting-to-know-you phase with them.
