‘The Walking Dead’ season 7, episode 5 preview: ‘Go Getters,’ the Hilltop, and Chandler Riggs’ Carl
One of the joys of “The Walking Dead” spending so much time constructing the universe over the past couple of seasons is that you’ve really done a good job setting up just about everything that could be coming down the road. There are still several more episodes still to go in the first half of this season, and moving into next week’s “Go Getters,” we’re going to be heading over to the Hilltop Colony and seeing how some characters are handling a sense of crisis there. They’ll still be wrestling with the loss of so much life, and the problem here is that the Saviors are still out there — and we absolutely know of how dangerous they are.
As per usual, this is an episode that is hard to speculate on too much prior to it airing, but after it airs tonight, we are going to be back with a little bit more insight into what could be coming up here.
Synopsis (via TV Guide) – “Surrounded by enemies and saddled with grief, members of the group hope to find safety at the Hilltop before it’s too late.”
One of the interesting questions to ponder over now is how much worse could it get for Rick and company before it starts to get any better at all. Would the show really kill off any more major characters right now? There’s a case to be made for it, if for no other reason than that you wouldn’t expect more of it coming at this point. Instead, the traditional pattern that you tend to come across with this show is that they don’t kill anyone at all off for a good while after a big death. Eventually, we do think we’ll have a calm, but we’re not sure we are there yet.
The promo below doesn’t give away too much more, but it does make it clear that the folks at the Hilltop are going to be in clear danger. Also, be prepared to see Sasha and Carl get some screen time.
