‘Poldark’ season 2, episode 8 preview (PBS): The Ross – Demelza – Elizabeth aftermath

Demelza -

Tonight, viewers of “Poldark” on PBS had an opportunity to watch for the first time a scene that certainly has generated a lot of attention and buzz across the internet. To call it controversial would be an understatement; there are many people out there who found it entirely comfortable, but at the same time we’ve also heard people who claim almost the opposite.

Regardless of what you think, Ross and Elizabeth were together, and this is going to lead into some huge ramifications over the course of the rest of the season. We don’t want to give everything away about what happens next, but we’ll offer up a couple of teases now to tide you over until next week (where we will share a few more):

1. Demelza won’t be in the dark for long – If you know one thing about this character, it’s that she is someone who doesn’t take things lying down. She will have a very strong reaction to the time Ross has spent with Elizabeth, and will ponder a wide array of reactions, including finding a way to get revenge.

2. Elizabeth will ponder her own future with George Warleggan – There is such a bizarre dichotomy in what’s going on with Elizabeth here. She eventually consented to being with Ross after initial resistance, but there is another man in her life, and it just so happens to be Ross’ principal rival.

There are only two more episodes left this season, so over the course of those you will see Ross and Demelza try to determine what his actions mean for the future of their relationship — if there is a future. There’s also another relationship that will take center stage within these final episodes that we haven’t mentioned in this article.
