‘Chicago Med’ season 2, episode 9 preview: When will the series return to NBC?
Tonight, we’re going to have a chance to bear witness to the end of “Chicago Med” for the time being on NBC. “Free Will” is a pretty powerful episode and one hoping to accomplish quite a bit in terms of moving forward character stories. We’ll have our full review up for it a little bit later tonight, so here’s to hoping that the story wraps up in a way that ultimately leaves you satisfied.
Now, let’s get to posing some other very-important questions, including just when this show could end up returning with new episodes. It’s not the end of the season, after all; just the end of the fall run.
While we’re waiting for further confirmation from NBC, right now it is looking as though the show will be coming back on Thursday, January 5 to pick up where it left off through this run of episodes. There is some further evidence for this courtesy of when the network is bringing back some of their other shows. For example, we’re getting more of “Law & Order: SVU” on January 4, and the same could go for “Chicago PD.” Given that there is a wide pool of available viewers at the start of the year (after all, remember for a minute that nobody wants to go outside in the cold weather), this means that there are some further opportunities to capitalize and get higher ratings. It’s better than trying to air new episodes up against the holidays that are coming up and shopping season.
As for what we’re hoping to see in this second batch of episodes, we’d love to learn more about Ethan Choi’s past, have Dr. Rhodes have a little more of a long-term romantic arc, and see if “Chicago Justice” can really integrate itself into this universe. There isn’t the most-natural connection there, but this show will likely figure it out. They often do.
