‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 13, episode 8 video: Conflict in the OR
Thursday night’s new episode of “Grey’s Anatomy” is entitled “The Room Where it Happens,” and the closer we get to this episode airing, the more and more it starts to become clear just precisely what “Room” it is that we’re talking about here: The operating room. This is the place where the surgeons do work their magic and often save lives.
However, at the same time this is also a room where something else often happens, and that something is conflict … lots of conflict. These are doctors who are highly-skilled and incredibly opinionated. In some instances, they are also under an extreme amount of stress.
In the new sneak peek that we’ve got for you below, you can get a pretty good sense as to precisely what we’re talking about here, given that we have Richard, Meredith, Owen, and others trying to do their best in order to save a life; when some conflict arises on the subject of humanizing someone who is effectively a John Doe, the idea surfaces to humanize him. That includes giving him his own name and his own separate story.
Maybe this will be successful; or, maybe it’ll be nothing more than a feeble attempt to unify the surgeons around something while they operate. Either way, we do imagine that this is going to prove itself to be an interesting, complicated episode, and one that could adopt the old bottle-episode format of staying almost entirely within one single setting over the course of the hour. When you’re a show like this that has been on the air for well over a decade, you suddenly earn yourself the ability to experiment and play around a little bit more. For the most part, this creativity does come to the benefit of the viewer.
