Should ‘Poldark’ season 3 air in the spring?

Poldark

While the entirety of the second season of “Poldark” on BBC One this year proved itself to be incredibly entertaining, at the same time there was one disappointment that came about long before the show even premiered: The scheduling. After season 1 aired during the spring, there was clearly a hope that we’d have a chance to see something similar happen for season 2. That didn’t happen. Instead, we were forced to endure a rather long wait until we got around to the fall.

Was it worth the wait? Absolutely, but the ratings showed the waiting may not have been the best choice. The show lost a little ratings steam airing against “Victoria” on ITV for most of the season, and it makes you wonder whether or not it would have improved against lesser competition. Superficially, we’d argue that the answer to that is “maybe.” Yet, for the weeks that the show didn’t air against “Victoria” later in the season, its improvement was relatively understated. It’s not like the series improved more than 20% with the Jenna Coleman-led drama off of the air.

Therefore, in asking whether or not the show should air in the spring of next year, we’re doing so more than anything else as an eager fan excited to determine whether or not we could be getting more of the show in a rather expedient manner. We don’t wonder with the belief that we could see a stunning ratings turnaround. Expecting that, given the numbers that we’ve seen for the show to date, does very much feel like a losing proposition. We’ve come to learn, especially this year, that having any for-sure expectations can turn out troubling.

For those wondering why we are posing this subject in the first place, it’s due to a Radio Times report suggesting that season 3 could air in the spring of next year, though that is not a confirmation of anything.

So tell us: Do you think that this could, or even should, happen? Share in the poll below.
