‘Arrow’ season 5 spoilers: Will Diggle learn about Sara’s prior existence?

DiggleFor the most part, the world of “Arrow” was not severely impacted by anything that transpired in terms of Flashpoint. Oliver Queen’s life remains the same, and the majority of the villains who were there beforehand are still there now. We’re making the assumption here that Prometheus is not an end result of Barry Allen messing with the timeline, given that it’d be awfully lame for the Big Bad of the season to be directly related to something that Oliver did not do on the show.

With this being said, there is still one life who was impacted pretty dramatically by everything that happened with Flashpoint, and that is none other than John Diggle’s. He doesn’t know it yet, but before Flashpoint he and Lyla had a daughter named Sara. Now, that daughter is a son named John. We don’t know if this change will impact the future, given that previously John was presumably Diggle’s second child and eventually became Connor Hawke, but that is something that is important to consider.

What we can tell you is that Diggle, through one way or another, is probably going to learn about this in due time. Here is what the man behind the role in David Ramsey had to say on the subject to TVLine when the publication visited the show’s set:

“I can tell you, it is important that he finds out … Secrets don’t say secrets for long on this show — or in any of these Berlanti universes.”

Meanwhile, Ramsey made it clear that Diggle’s reaction to this news may not be one of overt rage towards The Flash for his meddling, since he obviously didn’t mean for any of this to happen:

“Diggle can’t miss something he’s never had. So it’s less what we know or think his reaction might be, because we have the benefit of knowing he had a daughter … I think his reaction is going to be a lot more compassionate than you think toward Barry, who has this extraordinary power and just kind of recklessly used it.”

Hopefully, we’ll learn more about this when “Arrow” airs its 100th episode and takes part in a crossover later this year.
