‘Saturday Night Live’ video: How Alec Baldwin, Kate McKinnon become Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton
Obviously, there are going to be many people out there who are off voting on this fine Election Day, and with that in mind, you may want to be reminded of a good laugh. “Saturday Night Live” provided many of them earlier this season when they ran what were a series of fairly entertaining debate parodies featuring Kate McKinnon as Hillary Clinton and Alec Baldwin as Donald Trump.
Want to get a little more insight into how these came about, especially from the vantage point of hair and makeup? Well, that’s what the video below is for! Here, you can get a little bit more insight into what exactly goes into making the necessary wigs for both of the actors, and how much time they have to work with. (Here’s a clue: It’s often not much.) Part of what makes this show special is how sometimes they are able to make a lot out of very little in terms of the amount of time they have in a week.
As for whether or not we’ll be seeing these actors wearing these said costumes again in the future, for the time being we’d said it is pretty darn likely. After all, Hillary or Trump will be elected soon, and even for whoever loses, we’re sure that “SNL” could carve out some sort of farewell sketch featuring the other. We have a feeling that they’ve prepared more for a Hillary Presidency based solely on the fact that McKinnon is a regular cast member whereas Baldwin is not, but ultimately we’ll see precisely what happens when the dust settles.
If this video doesn’t remind you of some happier times, hopefully something else will. After all, we’re well aware that the election is absolutely providing plenty of stress these days.
