‘Secrets and Lies’ season 2, episode 7 preview: On Eric, Cornell, devastation in ‘The Statement’

On tonight’s new episode of ABC’s “Secrets and Lies,” there is an opportunity to learn significantly more about Eric mostly through the lens of his late wife Kate’s past. A surprise visitor opened the door to many new developments, while at the same time Detective Cornell’s own relationship and family history reared its head in its own unique way. It’s too much to just have one issue weighing on you within the realm of this show. Instead, you often have a wide array of things, and it leads to a cavalcade of issues and developments rising to the surface.

Moving into next week’s “The Statement,” there is going to be a need on some characters’ parts to try and patch things up in the midst of some recent chaos. As for whether or not they are going to be able to fully do that, however, that is where things start to get interesting. Basically, right when things start to get better for some, new revelations come out that cause the group to wonder if almost everything is being put into jeopardy once more.

Synopsis – “Eric and his father need to resolve their differences immediately, as Patrick’s secret sins and major transgressions come home to roost, blindsiding Eric and putting the whole Warner family and SEG in danger. Eric also uncovers evidence of a deadly surprise about his father. Meanwhile, Detective Cornell, along with her ex-husband, Ethan, wrestle with their guilt over their daughter Jennifer.”

We imagine that this episode is going to be especially emotional for Cornell, and it leads to the following super-important question being raised: What do you do in the event that so many issues rise to the surface in your personal life in the midst of another investigation? Can you really focus? Is that in the cards?
