‘American Horror Story: Roanoke’ episode 6: Ryan Murphy on twist; Finn Wittrock, Taissa Farmiga returning at some point

Roanoke -

What is the big twist at the center of “American Horror Story: Roanoke” Wednesday night? It’s a question that has caused many a fan to be driven up the nearest wall, and there have been theories aplenty whether it be a fake TV show to the actors fabricating their entire story of their “Roanoke Nightmare.” It’s something we even discussed at length over the weekend.

While of course co-creator Ryan Murphy is not giving everything away regarding what this twist will be, he did tell reporters (per TVLine) in a conference call the following — including that there is another twist coming up that will shake up the foundation once more:

“Something happens where half the cast is revealed to be doing something completely different than you’ve seen in the first five [episodes]. You realize what you’ve been watching with some of the characters is not [who] they are. [The actors] had to do a mad scramble to find new voices and accents. It is a big turn. It’s the biggest plot twist we’ve ever done with the show. And there’s a startling announcement in Act 3 that resets the season up until Episode 10.”

While it is not entirely clear if Finn Wittrock and Taissa Farmiga will be appearing on tomorrow night’s new episode, Murphy confirms that you will be seeing them at some point within the second half of the season.

There were two other interesting teases to us that were presented through this call: Lady Gaga’s character is meant to be the original Supreme, the all-powerful witch played later by Jessica Lange during “Coven.” Meanwhile, the show will announce the theme for season 7 of the show in the spring, and won’t be taking the same super-secret route with it. There will be characters from “American Horror Story: Freak Show” involved in it in some shape or form.
