‘Shiptober: Should ‘Suits’ season 6 give us a Mike, Rachel wedding?

Mrs. Carter: Have we waited long enough for Mike and Rachel to say “I Do” on “Suits“?

While there are several relationships in various stages on the USA drama at present, Mike and Rachel are the ones in the most stable place — which may be somewhat weird to say, given that we are technically speaking about someone in Mike who just got out of prison. They weathered the storm there, and it feels ultimately like the two are happy enough that they opted against the sudden wedding right before he began the sentence.

Now that he’s out, could we finally get to hear those wedding bells in the final six episodes of the season? There is certainly a case both for and against it.

The case for the wedding – For one, it feels like the right time to get a culmination-of-sorts to everything romantic that has been going on between these two over the years. There is not a lot of certainty at present when it comes to Mike’s future, given that he’s not an attorney anymore and he may want to carve his own path in the world. Therefore, this could be a way in which he could garner a certain degree of stability in his future. Plus, it would be a nice change-of-pace for a show that can be either serious, snarky, or cynical more often than not.

The case against a wedding – There are only six more episodes this season, and that’s not a lot of time. Maybe you want to exercise a little patience, and bring us something romantic at the start of season 7 instead. Therefore, you can really plan things out and showcase a ceremony that is as romantic as possible. This would actually be very different from the TV mold, given that the vast majority of ceremonies these days for the medium tends to be planned at the last second after some circumstances come up and ruin the best-laid-plan. Wouldn’t it be nice to see a wedding without a lot of last-second panic?
