‘Poldark’ season 2: Aidan Turner on the struggles of Ross, Demelza, and Elizabeth

Poldark -

We do not want to call the situation at present between Ross, Demelza, and Elizabeth on BBC’s “Poldark” a love triangle, mostly because the thought of that seemingly trivializes what is going on between this. This is not some teen drama set in high school; it’s instead a series about a man trying to move forward, but still haunted at times by ghosts and feelings of the past. Specifically, the latter is going to continue to play an enormous role on this season, as Ross is going to try to distance himself from Elizabeth while at the same time having a hard time doing so.

Want to know more about what Aidan Turner is saying about this relationship at this given point in time? Then take a look at what he had to say in a new interview with the Express:

“Demelza suffers at the hand of Ross’s relationship with Elizabeth this series … I think with Elizabeth, it feels like there’s unfinished business and he’s idealised her for so long. He would have thought about her every day on the battlefields of Virginia and to come home and to not have her, to not be able to tell her how he feels, to not hold her… it was very difficult. He can’t quite get over that.”

While of course at this point we’d love to see Ross and Demelza run into each other’s arms for good with the waves crashing in the ocean, we’re also realists and recognize that there are many troubles ahead for the two. In addition to Elizabeth, you also have to remember for a minute everything that is going on with the mining operation and George, who has a comic-book demented-supervillain vibe to him in how he’s not going to settle until he destroys Ross once and for all.
