‘Gotham’ season 3, episode 1 video: The story of Butch

When “Gotham” starts to play out over the course of season 3, expect to see the character of Butch rather angry — and to quote a certain Hulk, you may not like him when he’s angry. (Sure, we can make Marvel / DC crossover jokes when it suits our fancy.)

So what’s he got to be angry about? Well, the teaser below makes that somewhat clear: He’s very much bummed-out to be losing Tabitha, who has developed more of an interest as of late in Barbara, and he’s looking for someone to take out some of his frustrations on.

What’s fun about Butch is that he’s a bruiser, and yet he’s got this tender heart somewhere in there, as well. He’s one of the more interesting villains in that way because you almost want to root for him before you realize more of what he does in terms of his actions. This is why it’d be particularly fun to get some sort of episode down the road where we understand a little more of his backstory, what he wants, and if there is a way for him to go about getting it. Also, we want to see where his allegiance falls moving forward, since even that has been a topic of great discussion so far.

For those wondering, it seems like Tabitha and Barbara could be getting into the nightclub business for season 3, while at the same time one of Butch’s other “associates” in Oswald Cobblepot could be angling for the position as Mayor.
