’Gotham’ season 3 spoilers: Cameron Monaghan returning as Jerome — in some capacity
For everyone out there who enjoys “Gotham,” we don’t know how you interpret the following as anything other than great news: You’re going to have a chance to see Jerome on the show again in some form moving forward.
In a post on Twitter, Cameron Monaghan let his voice speak for itself when it comes to the return of his character, who was famously killed off in shocking fashion during an arc at the start of the second season. At the time, the consideration in many ways was that Jerome was set up to be the earliest incarnation of the Joker, and with his death came many others who were inspired to pick up the infamous mantel in some shape or form.
Is it possible that the show has figured out some sort of creative way to bring the Jerome character back? We’re absolutely not ruling it out, mostly because they have shown time and time again a great deal of ability when it comes to finding creative methods to have people return to the show. Now that we’ve said that, we actually don’t want Jerome back from the dead, even if we did find the start of season 2 incredibly compelling in part because of him. The show’s already done a lot of character-revivals, and you don’t want to tread on the same ground over and over again. Also, you don’t want to do anything to invalidate what was already a really strong ending for this character.
The premiere of “Gotham” is coming up on Monday, and we certainly plan on having more news before it airs!
