‘The X Factor’ UK video: Simon Cowell can’t keep it together during Faye Horne audition

For our final preview before we make it to this weekend’s new episodes of “The X Factor,” we bring you a case of Simon Cowell and the giggles. Specifically, he just can’t keep it together when he has a chance to meet the latest contestant in Faye Horne.

The trouble begins for Simon when he fails to be able to pronounce Faye’s name, and then breaks out in laughter on several occasions both before and during the audition. By the time we make it to the end of the video, we’re not sure that he has ever had a chance to seriously analyze her ability!

With that being said, we do think that Faye’s audition is for the most part uneven at best. She has a little bit of ability, but the entire audition reads a little too dramatically. Over the course of all of the auditions we’ve seen so far this season, one of the trends that we’ve noticed is that there is a tendency for many contestants to perform almost as though they are trying out for the West End and not to become a pop star. There’s certainly nothing wrong with being a stage performer — they’re often better than pop stars — but they are very different things.

Personally, we’d still put Faye through just to see what she’s like in another round where Simon can keep it together. With that being said, we’re not confident enough after seeing this to say that she will make it past any stage of bootcamp.
