‘Murder in the First’ season 4: Renewal hopes, odds for Taye Diggs series

Murder in the First -We’ve come a long way since the beginning of “Murder in the First” season 3, and Sunday night is when everything will be coming to a close. The show is hopefully going to have a finale that meets your expectations and then some. If nothing else, it will resolve the Normandy Parker case and give us a good sense as to what the future could hold for Terry and Hildy.

For the sake of this particular article, we do want to pose one specific question in particular: Will this show come back for another season? If there still a light at the end of the tunnel?

If we’re looking at this just from the standpoint of pure ratings, we’re not extremely optimistic. The show so far this season has averaged a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic, down more than 25% from the season 2 numbers. Meanwhile, the margin is even greater in total viewers. Maybe live+3 and live+7 data will help to further close the gap, but more than likely it only is going to work to a certain degree. One other reason to worry about the show’s future now is the precedent that has already been established. For example, we saw “Devious Maids,” which posted a huge decline for season 4, canceled at Lifetime. We also are expecting something similar for “Mistresses” on ABC.

Hopefully, the season 3 finale tonight will set a season high in the ratings, and start to turn things around once again. We do know that on the basis of quality alone, this is certainly a series that we want to have back on the air.
