‘The X Factor’ UK video: Sada Vidoo describers herself as ‘living doll’
Last week, “The X Factor” gave us a significant dose of the weird courtesy of Honey G. This time around, they appear ready and willing to do that with Sada Vidoo.
The moment she stepped out in front of the judges in the sneak peek below and proclaimed herself to be a “living doll,” our sentiment was pretty simple: This was going to be terrible. Typically, contestants with shtick are looking for the most part for just some sort of attention, or a brand that they want to build after the show.
That may still be the case here with Sada, but we’re not going to deny that she has some talent! Her rendition of “Love is a Battlefield” may be odd, but she does hit some big notes and is weirdly entrancing to watch. She’s a little bit theatrical, but in a way that is really hard to describe. It almost feels like this performance is her “doll” persona coming to life.
Ultimately, we see Sada as incredibly polarizing if she lasts long enough in the competition. There are some who will probably enjoy the quirkiness here, whereas others will be greatly annoyed by it. If she makes it to the live shows, she’ll probably have some significant hurdles to climb — but we almost hope that she does make it there just so that we have someone unique to write about. We cannot even begin to tell you the number of contestants year after year who we forget about within mere days of the season ending.
