‘Big Brother 18’ live review: Was Michelle Meyer or Paul Abrahamian evicted?
If you have been watching the “Big Brother” live feeds this summer — or if you have been at least watching the live show — odds are that you know a think or two at this point about what was going to happen on Thursday night’s eviction show. This one was incredibly predictable; heck, the only hype-worthy thing going into this episode was seeing precisely what was going to happen when Michelle got evicted. Would she completely lose it on everyone? To us, that was easily the most exciting possibility from a drama point of view.
First segment tonight – Yawns and Nicole paranoia. While James was being completely delusional about his alliance’s odds of sticking around in the game, we had waffling like nobody’s business when it comes to the Care Package. Corey eventually gave it to Victor to ensure that he voted Michelle out, which he was going to do anyway. If this was “Big Brother: All-Stars,” we would see a phone call DR with Dr. Will and Mike Boogie right now.
Family segments – The houseguests got to see their families, and for whatever reason seeing Paul get choked up was easily the most emotional part of it. A good bit of that may be because he’s spent the vast majority of this game keeping that side of his emotions out of it, and the floodgates finally opened here.
Adding to this, we had another super-fun video featuring Victor’s family, who are really delightful and it makes it all the harder to not want to vote for him.
Eviction – We had a tie vote, so Nicole had to get some of the blood on her hands. She broke the tie, and evicted Michelle. She stole Paul’s pelican Pablo! That was funny, and we do enjoy her calling people out. We just wish that she did something this week beyond the two hours before eviction, since she was incredibly frustrating to watch as a viewer.

This part here doesn’t surprise me, but it makes me wonder why some people think Corey’s move with the bribe was stupid. So I just finished watching this season and I know this is late (feel free to respond or not), but I think Corey knew beforehand that Victor was going to vote out Michelle regardless, especially after she was part of the reason he got evicted for the second time. That, and Nicorey knew Victor was trustworthy and going to stick with the F4 plan. I just don’t think Corey had that many strategic options at that point in the game. I believe I saw an article that claimed he had intended not to use the BB Bribe at all but production didn’t want it to go to waste so they forced him to use it somehow.
Let’s lay out the mechanisms and circumstances of the bribe: 1) Like most Care Packages (save Natalie’s Never-Not Pass), the BB Bribe is only effective for the week; 2) It can only be used after the HOH nominations (because the Package arrived after that, right?); 3) The recipient of the bribe can only accept the bribe if he or she accepts its condition; and 4) Once accepted, the recipient must abide by that bribe. Now let’s see what moves Corey could have used the bribe for. Note that the target that week was Michelle so strategy must focus on that and the bribe shouldn’t be used on her.
1) Nicole was HOH and targetting Michelle anyway and Corey was working with her and voting the same way, so it would be waayy stupid of him to use the bribe on her. Even Nicole told him not to waste the bribe on her when he jokingly said he would.
2) He could bribe Natalie to vote out Michelle but would Natalie have agreed to this? She was BFFs with Michelle lately. She was also mainly responsible for Victor’s eviction so Paul and Victor turned on Jatalie. She needed to strike first before they did. And girl power! No way she would have voted out Michelle.
3) He could bribe James to vote out Michelle but like in Natalie’s case, would James have agreed to this? He was responsible for Natalie and Michelle turning on Paul and Victor so he would definitely vote with his showmance.
4) Paul and Victor were way better at competitions than Jatalie, and seemed to be faithful to the F4 alliance. Since Paul was on the block, Corey needed only Victor’s vote, in case Jatalie stuck with voting out Paul. By giving Victor the bribe, it didn’t only ensure he would vote out Michelle, it would make him and Paul believe that Nicorey were faithful to the alliance, that is, of course, until it would be time to turn on them two weeks later. And it turned out as planned. Victor won next week’s HOH and decided to put up Jatalie.
Given item 4, not only did Corey’s bribe work that week, it also worked for the next two weeks. Doesn’t sound like a “stupid” move, does it, given the limited number of HGs he could bribe? Now, what was it about this strategy that’s worth a Chilltown phone call? ;)
