‘Mr. Robot’ season 2, episode 10 preview: Elliot’s other side crumbles

Earlier this season, it appeared as though Elliot Alderson and the title character of “Mr. Robot” had begun to rebuild a bridge. He had shown to him that there was value in his presence, and he could find ways to use him to his advantage.

However, this is a world and a show where trust is a key variable, and one that almost constantly fluctuates. We certainly felt the burn of that when Elliot admitted to some of his own lies, and he himself could feel that on next week’s new episode — at least if the synopsis below is to be believed:

“elliot starts to wonder if mr. robot has been lying to him. darlene tries to do the right thing. dom and fbi get closer.”

There are a few potential showdowns looming by the end of this season, whether it be Elliot versus his second self, Darlene versus her own conscience, and then also fsociety in general against FBI. Dom has been a spunky-enough character that it’s easy to forget that she is in opposition to most of our heroes; if this was another show, we’d probably root for her. However, with many key players behind bars, suddenly this world would become less exciting. It worked in part for Elliot just because for the longest time, we weren’t even aware of his presence there. Sure, there were theories around the internet, but so many of those are wrong that admittedly, we didn’t give them a whole lot of credence.
