‘MasterChef’ season 7, episode 15 review: Who was the second home cook eliminated tonight?

MasterChef -

On the first part of tonight’s “MasterChef” two-hour event, we said farewell to Nathan on what was one of the most stressful challenges of the entire season.

First, we had a team challenge that proved to be (yet again) stressful in its own right. Maybe it wasn’t Nathan fainting, but these are the challenges that we personally would probably struggle with the most. David, Tanorria, and Brandi made it through the first task, and that sent Dan, Shaun, and Katie into a Pressure test with all the stakes. After all, making it to the final five is a huge achievement, but in order to do so, you had to impress on a pastry-chef level.

The moment that we saw Dan struggling / including too many eggs, we starting to think that this wasn’t going to be his night. While he’s done far better than we first thought he would in this competition from where he came out with the whole frat-guy persona, he had reason to worry. (Ultimately, we gotta say that we would’ve eaten ANY of these desserts and been a happy man in the end.)

Luckily for Dan, he managed to just squeak by when actually presenting the desserts. Shaun dominated among the three home cooks taking part, and that left Katie to be the one going home. She had a really great run this season, and fought through some tough situations. She has to be proud of making it this far!

After the crazy first episode tonight, we will say that this part lacked some of the action; yet, at the same time this was classic “MasterChef,” and while we’re not the biggest fan of Team Challenges, the episode as a whole was satisfying enough. Grade: B.
