‘Dancing with the Stars’: Olympian Simone Biles may favor season 24 participation

Dancing with the Stars

Tonight marks the Closing Ceremonies of the Rio Olympics, and from here many of the athletes are going to be going from taking part in that to their next great venue. For a few of them, that may be taking part in “Dancing with the Stars.”

It already feels fairly clear from various reports / common sense that gymnast Simone Biles, who is carrying the flag for the Closing Ceremonies, would be the clear favorite to sign on, but there’s one thing we have always cautioned fans on: There’s a lengthy tour that the Final Five are going to go on following their time in the Olympics this year. This is one of the reasons why Aly Raisman, a famed member of both the Fierce Five and the Fatal Five, waited until the spring after the Olympics in order to anticipate.

Based on what Biles told E! News recently, that may also be the case for her:

“I would love to do Dancing with the Stars, but so far we have a three month tour after this Olympics. I’m not sure if I’ll have time … I would really love to do it in the spring if that’s possible.”

Rest assured that we have no qualms about whether or not the producers would still want her at that time; they would probably send the entire judging panel, host Tom Bergeron, and the partner of her choice to the front door of her house in a conga line if that would convince her to take part. She’s still be beloved and considered a fan favorite at that time.

We do still imagine that there will be an Olympic presence on the fall season even if Biles is not there. For example, we could imagine producers wanting Michael Phelps, and the idea of Ryan Lochte looms large given that he could see it as a chance to repair his image, and ABC could see it as ratings. More on that here.

For now, we’ll just have to see what happens when the cast is announced in a little over a week. Share your thoughts in the comments, and head over here to get some further TV news on all we cover via our official CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: ABC.)
