‘Supergirl’ season 2, and the dangers of Project Cadmus

For a series like “Supergirl,” it would be very easy for the writers to just seek out another over-powered villain from the comic books and stamp the label of “Big Bad” upon them. In some ways, we’re honestly surprised that they just aren’t rolling with that since it’s the predictable option. Then again, we’re glad they’re going the other route!

While it does look like there will be a little more of a traditional Big Bad in the second half of the season, much of the opposition to Kara and company in the early going could come via Project Cadmus. As executive producer Andrew Kreisberg reveals to Entertainment Weekly, what makes this organization so complicated is that there are some people in it that may have some good qualities; unfortunately, they have just become so corrupted by a vision they feel is right that they don’t necessarily understand just how dangerous they are:

“[Project Cadmus is] dedicated to eradicating alien life on Earth … They’re fanatics. They’re true believers. It’s a collection of scientists, of very bright, patriotic people who truly believe what they’re saying. That makes them even more dangerous.”

Do we think that these people could be stopped by Supergirl rather easily, given the full scope of her powers as opposed to the sheer lack of them they possess? Sure, and that’s why we imagine that things are going to be so much more complicated.
