‘The Flash’ season 3 spoilers: Savitar joining Doctor Alchemy as main villain

FlashEarlier this summer while at Comic-Con, “The Flash” revealed that there were two different Big Bads coming for the upcoming third season. One of them was Doctor Alchemy, a man who can transform elements and even the human body. Meanwhile, the other was kept a mystery for the time being beyond it being a speedster, which made us wonder if the show was planning to do more with Black Flash after Zoom’s transformation at the end of season 2.

As it turns out, Black Flash isn’t the focus, though we’re not ruling out getting a chance to see him at some point down the road. While at the TCA Summer Press Tour this week it was officially revealed that Savitar is going to be the mystery villain, which is particularly interesting given that he is a character powerful enough in theory to rival Zoom. Also, in some iterations he can take away the motion and speed from others. If the show goes in this direction, he wouldn’t even have to worry about outrunning Barry Allen at capacity, since he may be able to limit him.

We don’t want to speculate too much on either of these characters alter egos, given that neither is so well-known that the show would be forced into using something from the comics here. Specifically, we’re still the most curious about what the series is planning with Tom Felton. Typically, if you cast an actor with this level of notoriety, you have some plans for them … and it’s pretty darn hard to imagine the plan for the former “Harry Potter” actor being that he is a jealous co-worker of Barry’s. If he ends up being Doctor Alchemy, we certainly wouldn’t be mad.

It was also revealed at TCA that the Flashpoint arc will likely last a few episodes at most. Therefore, it may not be limited to just one (which was our fear), but there is a cognizance that the show will need to move on to other matters soon enough.
