‘Game of Thrones’ season 7: Who could end up on the Iron Throne?
There are a few different storylines happening on “Game of Thrones,” but when the dust settles, we do think that the majority of the show eventually falls back on trying to answer one question more so than any other: Who is going to end up on the Iron Throne by the end? The show has that title for the reason, and there are still so many candidates for it.
For the sake of this article, let’s take a quick look at who are feeling right now are the people well positioned to at least have a shot at this before the series is over.
Cersei – Technically, she already has it, but will she end up with it? It’s unlikely, mostly because without her children, she has nothing to hold her back! We almost envision her becoming akin to the Mad Queen, and Jaime could end up having to kill her himself. We know Bran saw something rather odd in his vision.
Jaime Lannister – Could her brother end up taking the throne for himself? It seems unlikely, even if he’d be a natural choice if Cersei dies. While we think he’s a great fighter and military leader, he doesn’t have the constitution seemingly to be king.
Jon Snow – He’s already King of the North, and certainly, it’s possible that he ends up on the Throne out of anyone from House Stark. Plus, his bloodline (if and when he learns about it) makes him a natural heir to take it in the end. Of course, the flip side is that maybe Dany sees him as a threat if she realizes that he could have a claim; also, we worry because Jon is not really a strategist. He’s great in battle, but terrible at planning for it. Being a ruler is more about planning.
Daenerys Targeryan – Dany has fought harder for it than anyone, and of course there’s a part of us who wonders if this is the “happy” ending for the show. Then, we also remember that she has burned and killed thousand people for what she feels to be the greater good. While we do agree that most of the people she has been responsible for killing are not good people, they did still die in a ruthless way.
Littlefinger – To us, the clear under-the-radar choice. Littlefinger is one of the few remaining characters whose motives are not entirely clear, and he seems more than content to watch various factions destroy each other. There are scenarios where we can see him emerging from the rubble at the end as a reminder that sometimes, the heroes don’t often carry the day.

Peter Baelish was NOT ambivalent when he told Sansa he wanted to sit on the Iron Throne with her by his side.
