‘Quantico’ season 2 spoilers: Blair Underwood joins as a series regular

Quantico -Fresh off of a turn as playing Andrew a.k.a. Lash on “Agents of SHIELD,” Blair Underwood is sticking with ABC for a while longer. However, this time around he is going from the world of superheroes to that of espionage.

Specifically, be prepared to see Underwood in a big way on ABC’s “Quantico.” The network has announced that he will be a series regular, and per TVLine, he will play the role of CIA agent Owen Hall, the sort of role-model agent everyone wishes that they could be when they first enter Langley. We do of course wonder right away if there is more than meets the eye with him as a result of that, but we don’t have any evidence that this is the case.

In a statement, show creator / executive producer Josh Safran had the following to say:

“Blair is the kind of actor you dream of writing for … Be it romantic comedy, dark drama, or high-octane thriller — there is nothing he can’t do. We look forward to creating a role that will showcase his huge range and boundless charisma.”

It’s pretty darn easy to be thrilled about this casting news, mostly because of the fact that Underwood is so tremendously gifted, and we figure that he will be bringing a lot to the show this season. One of the things season 1 probably needed to bring the show more attention is a notable guest star or two; they eventually had that with Eliza Coupe and Marcia Cross, but it took some time to get there.
