‘Big Brother 18’ episode 6 review: Is this season, and the BB Roadkill, going strong?
When it comes to the main story events of Sunday night’s “Big Brother 18” episode, that can be summarized without too much effort at all. Category 4 and consequently Paulie won the Head of Household Competition thanks in part to James throwing it, while Paul and Bronte were nominated. Victor won the BB Roadkill Competition, and eventually used this to nominate Tiffany in hopes of stirring things up in the game.
All of this was fine, but where the show is really lacking is in the entertainment department. Casting-wise, we have a few people who are pretty clear misses. Bridgette, for example, is incredibly boring, and the majority of the newbie guys this season are terrible. Paul’s probably the best of them from an entertainment standpoint, but they’re all terrible at the game. With that said, we don’t think Victor was terrible for telling Paulie that he won the Roadkill. He’s gotta trust somebody in the game, and he doesn’t have any numbers. He had to make a move.
Another issue is merely the editing. Do we really need a segment about James either hitting on the women and/or scaring people every week? It was fun the first season, but now it is predictable. Also, they’re not even trying to make Tiffany different than Vanessa. Probably the more entertaining moments of the night came in seeing Natalie talk about hating hot dogs, Zakiyah and Da’Vonne complaining about Paul, or the fact that the BB Roadkill competition was almost a “Price is Right” game. We like the competition, but the structure of it is wrong since it makes it even harder for the minority alliance to succeed.
Don’t get us wrong: We still enjoy “Big Brother.” We just wish that there were some casting and competition tweaks this season rather than some of what they’re doing at present. Grade: B-.
