‘The X Factor’ UK video: First audition creates ‘Friday Night’ dance craze
Even though “The X Factor” UK is not going to be airing again for a couple of months, the folks over at ITV did their part this week to give us at least something to look forward to.
In the clip below, you can see an audition from a guy who is clearly out win the Stevi Ritchie Memorial Award / the Wagner Memorial Award / the Whoever-You-Want-To-Call-It Award for being so bad that it is actually kind of good. This is a ridiculous sort of dance audition track that makes you laugh, and also makes you wonder why in the world he came up with this. The song is entitled “Friday Night,” which we suppose is a pseudo-sequel to Rebecca Black’s “Friday” / a prequel to her song “Saturday.”
Really, this audition more so than anything else is a reminder of just what the show is trying to do for this new season, and that is prioritize fun more than anything else. You’ve got returning host Dermot O’Leary dancing with people outside the audition room, while Nicole Scherzinger is doing her thing inside the room. Hey, at one point even Simon Cowell is getting into it! We’re starting to wonder if he got the hint from “Britain’s Got Talent” that at this point, people are just wanting to laugh and enjoy themselves when watching some of these shows, as opposed to something deathly serious and intense.
We’ll hopefully have some more teasers and sneak peeks for the next season soon. Stay tuned for that!
