‘Girl Meet World’ season 3, episode 6 video: Rider Strong returns as Shawn Hunter for ‘Girl Meets Upstate’

On Friday night’s new episode of “Girl Meets World,” what we primarily learned is that Maya is suffering a little bit from an identity crisis. After all, she has started to become a little bit more like Riley Matthews, which is understandable given the amount of time they spend together. She’s become less of a rebel, and in turn, doesn’t quite have her personality pinned-down anymore.

So is there going to be a way to fix that? Judging on the promo below for the July 8 episode entitled “Girl Meets Upstate,” it feels like one of the priorities of the half-hour is going to be trying to figure out a way in which to bring Maya back with the help of one of Cory’s old friends in Shawn Hunter. Rider Strong’s returning for the episode! It feels like he has been a mentor-of-sorts to Maya in the time they’ve been around each other on the show so far, so we certainly think that this could happen all over again.

By the end of the episode, it does certainly look as though some of the old Maya will be back in the form of a paint fight, but we’re not so willing to look at that just yet and proclaim that she is back for good. This is a situation that needs a little bit more time.

Unfortunately, this promo does very little to resolve the whole Lucas love triangle, which to us is something that really just needs to be resolved at this point given that it makes the show too much about ‘shipping, and it also hurts Lucas’ likability to have him go back and forth on this for so long.
