‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 7 premiere ratings drop big versus season 6

PLL -

Remember when “Pretty Little Liars” was dominant when it comes to summer TV ratings? We suppose you do, since it really wasn’t that long ago. However, the mighty have fallen a little bit, and the season 7 premiere numbers may make a case for this to be the final season before it falls further.

In the live+same day ratings released on Wednesday, the premiere episode “Tick Tock B*tches” ended up scoring a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic. While that’s still a very respectable number for a scripted cable show, it’s a drop of around 35% from the 1.1 the show got for its season 6 premiere. It’s more in line with what the show drew last winter, and it ties the lowest rating that the series had last summer. Hopefully this is a case of the people watching the premiere being the same people who stick around all season. If that’s the case, it may not be nearly as sad of a thing to write about.

If you want to go back to a time when the show was a little more dominant in the ratings, look back at seasons 4 or 3, when it was averaging more than a 1.1 rating and even pulled a 1.3 or 1.4 rating at times. This show was a huge phenomenon then; it still has many fans, but things have changed and some of the people previously watching live may now be either checking it out online / on their DVRs or not at all.
