‘Call the Midwife’ season 6: See Helen George, cast filming Christmas Special

We’re not sure that another “Call the Midwife” special, or even episode, has gotten the sort of buzz that the 2016 Christmas Special has so far. Then again, we understand why when it comes to some of what the BBC One series is planning to do.

First and foremost, we’re heading all the way to South Africa! That in itself is something that the show has not done before, and it is an exciting proposition to see how some of these characters handle being in a very different part of the world, where so many of the same tools and advancements that they have relied on previously in their careers are simply not there. To go along with this, this special is going to mark the first appearance from Miranda Hart, who will end up becoming a key cog in the upcoming sixth season premiering next year.

The photo above is the first official look (via the Radio Times) is our first real look at the upcoming big episode, and if nothing else, we like to think that it reminds us that there is quite a bit to look forward to when it comes to the overall story. We’re excited to see how these characters handle these particular conditions, and then to go along with that how we do eventually transition into what could be an exciting sixth season for the show.

As you would expect, we’ll have some other news all about the special as we get closer to it airing.
