‘Better Call Saul’ season 2, episode 7 video: Is Jimmy ready to leave Davis & Main?
At the start of “Better Call Saul,” Jimmy McGill felt the need to do something that he considered to be at the time responsible: Taking a job with Davis & Main. Kim wanted him to do it, and it was a way to still prove himself without having to spend a lot of time near Chuck. At this given point in his legal life, this really seemed to be a best-of-both-words sort of scenario.
However, we really cannot be too shocked to see that it all may be falling apart already. After all, you just have to remember here for a moment the sort of person that Jimmy can be. He’s a little self-destructive, and also someone who at the same time does not respond well to authority. As a matter of fact, he often ignores it altogether. The commercial incident turned out to be a fiasco, and from the moment all of that went down it was pretty clear that Jimmy was going to be on thin ice.
The sneak peek seems to be all about Jimmy tendering his resignation. Whether or not he goes through with it remains to be seen, but our feeling is that the quicker you get this character away from this place, the better. Jimmy needs a little bit more of a spice, and at the moment his character is actually the weakest part of the show. We enjoy what is going on much more with the likes of Mike and even Kim right now, so he needs to get out there and spread his morally-corrupt wings.
