‘The X Factor’ UK: Nick Grimshaw departed as judge over schedule

While there were rumors for some time regarding Nick Grimshaw and his status on the British version of “The X Factor,” we learned earlier this year that he opted not to come back. Why? As it turns out, it was mostly a case of being exhausted by his work schedule.

Speaking about this particular subject in a new interview with the Daily Star, he explained that doing his Radio One show in the morning and then the talent competition in the afternoon / evening proved itself to be a beast, even if he was getting money and attention as a result:

“I love going to work and I like to be busy … But doing X Factor and the radio was work all the time.

“I was doing the show in the morning and then working on X Factor from midday to midnight. It was every day. I will miss X Factor but I don’t regret my decision to go.”

We do think that this move may be the best for all parties involved. We liked Nick on the panel, but for some reason we were in the minority on that when it comes to press reviews. Maybe the show will find someone next who will get a kinder treatment from the press, and they can start to push the show in a direction that shakes it up from its core. Ultimately, we do think it needs more than new judges or presenters to keep it from losing even more viewers. It needs a new reason for people to watch.
