‘The Bachelor’ finale spoilers: Is there tension between JoJo Fletcher, Ben Higgins?

At the beginning of the sneak peek below for Monday night’s finale of “The Bachelor,” everything seems as though it is going in the right direction. Ben Higgins and JoJo Fletcher are really immersed in what seems to be yet another date on this show: There’s of course some sort of private swim, a kissing session, and plenty of conversation about just how much she loves him and wants things to work out.

Then, all of a sudden he claims that she is asking him a “loaded question.” What gives? It’s ultimately a really interesting question. All she asks him is if he is doing good, which we do think is completely fair when you think about it. She is giving him a lot, and in return she wants some reassurance.

Maybe we read too much into this preview, but this may be the strongest bit of evidence that we have seen to date that maybe Ben and JoJo don’t end up together. He seems shockingly distant from her, almost like he is afraid to get too close knowing that there is something unseemly that he is going to have to do down the road. She wants to be there for him and she is telling him that she’ll try to make the relationship work … but he’s not being even remotely receptive to it.

Who knows? Maybe we’ll get some other information on this episode soon, but we may not know until it airs what is the precise reason for Ben’s moody behavior.
