‘Call the Midwife’ season 6: When will Helen George – Charlotte Ritchie series return?

Call -

Tonight, the BBC is saying farewell to the fifth season of “Call the Midwife” with a finale that could be one for the ages. All indications suggest that there is a major character death happening in this episode, and while we put both Charlotte Ritchie and Helen George in the title for this story, we suppose that in theory it is possible that one of them could be departing before the next season simply because their character may no longer be among the breathing.

For the time being, we’re just going to be hopeful and assume that they make it for one more year. With that, let’s pose the following question: When will season 6 air? The schedule for this show is easier to chart than most, since it begins with a Christmas Special that will air on the network at the end of the year. Filming has not begun yet, but it will in the spring / early summer.

Meanwhile, there will be once more eight new episodes airing starting most likely in late January. It’s certainly possibly that there could be a few cast members new and old turning up, but our personal hope would be getting to see Miranda Hart or Jessica Raine at least one more time, given that it has been so long since either one of them turned up on the show. Both were at one point a huge part of the experience.

Could season 6 be the last? It’s possible in theory, but we do personally think that there is enough story to be told here for the show to go on still for some time to come.
