‘Top Chef: Last Chance Kitchen’ episode 10: Kwame Onwuachi, Jason Stratton face off

On the latest episode of “Top Chef: Last Chance Kitchen,” we had a culinary showdown that may qualify for being one of the best ones we’ve seen all season. In one corner, you had a guy in Kwame Onwuachi who was a favorite almost the entire season. He won a number of challenges, and seemed like he was going to run the table and get the title in the end. In the other corner, you had a guy in Jason Stratton who didn’t look in the regular competition like was a regular contender. However, here he has shown not just that he is an amazing cook, but that he has a big personality and spirit to him. He’s got crazy socks, a ton of passion, and a wide array of different things he can cook.

While we’ve said that Jason is the underdog many times before now, this time he really was. Sure, he may have more experience than Kwame, but the resume this season speaks for itself. The theme here was breakfast, and they each went really far out there to deliver something interesting.

For Jason, he chose to make a Spanish dish using a wide array of different textures. It was a smart move to show off some technique, and for the first time he really seemed nervous about his fate in the competition. Meanwhile, Kwame took on an Indian dish that he had in the country and loved.
