‘Call the Midwife’ season 5, episode 6 preview: Dr. Turner’s getaway with Shelagh full of distractions

Call the Midwife -

There is another new episode of “Call the Midwife” coming to BBC One on Sunday night, and if the sneak peek below is meant to be any indication, we’re going to see the continued struggles of Dr. Turner once more.

What we’ve learned about this character over time is that he cares intensely about his patients, and we understand it given some of the mistakes that are more than likely still floating around in his head, including one when it comes to his own smoking habit. He has a hard time trusting Dr. Godfrey to effectively man the ship while he is away on a brief camping trip with Shelagh, even though sooner or later he does have to let go.

Will he be able to do that by the time we get to the end of the episode? We definitely hope so, given that otherwise he’s someone who could stand to be extremely disappointed by the time we make it to the very end of the hour.

The major thing that we want to see here more so than anything else is the continued element of surprise, and a few little twists that could either shake up the show or these characters. However, at the same time we want to see Dr. Turner happy, so the element of surprise in this episode could preferably not involve him this time. Give him a little bit of a break, but still give us for the most part the “Call the Midwife” story we love with all of the emotional moments.
