‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 12 spoilers: More on Ellen Pompeo story in ‘The Sound of Silence’

Grey's Anatomy -“The Sound of Silence” is the title for the upcoming February 11 return of “Grey’s Anatomy” to ABC, and if there is one thing that we know about this episode based on some of the information that the network has released, this could be a particularly trying episode for Meredith Grey. Odds are that you’ve already seen a promo here or there showing Ellen Pompeo’s character being attacked by one of her own patients, but that is only a part of the story.

If you look below, the full synopsis gives you a little bit more of a sense as to what to expect:

“Meredith is brutally attacked by a patient, and Penny is the one who discovers her. The doctors of Grey Sloan Memorial rush to stabilize Meredith and remain by her side in the harrowing aftermath.”

By the time we make it to the end of this episode, we figure that we’ll have some answers as to how Meredith is doing, and who knows? Maybe we are also going to see if the metaphorical ice starts to melt between Meredith and Penny. She’s tried to get her more assimilated into the Grey Sloan Memorial at times, but it’s understandably hard on her. For Penny, this is obviously an opportunity for her to seek a little bit of redemption over what has happened in the past, and try to find a way to properly move forward in a way that she has not been able to so far.
