‘The Flash’ season 2 spoilers: First look at ‘Fast Lane,’ Tar Pit’s arrival

One of the key dilemma for “The Flash” season 2 is going to be finding the right way to incorporate Wally West over the course of the rest of the season. It is someone who is definitely imperative to the story of the show, but at the same time also someone who has to fit into the chemistry of the show in order to work. We feel like fears over this is one of the reasons why Henry Allen was not written into the show so much despite him being freed from prison. There was an opportunity to do just yet, but he’s now still just a recurring guest star.

Come the February 2 episode entitled “Fast Lane,” we are going to be seeing a little bit more of Wally than we have to date; with that being said, much of what we see from him is going to be proving that he has a certain habit for speed … even if he doesn’t have powers:

“Barry (Grant Gustin) teams up with Wells (Tom Cavanagh) to figure out a way to close the breaches, but they are distracted by a meta-human nicknamed Tar Pit (guest star Marco Grazzini) who can transform into liquid asphalt. Iris (Candice Patton) is concerned for Wally’s (Keiynan Lonsdale) safety after she finds out about his drag racing hobby. When he refuses to stop she makes a bold move that puts her in danger.”

Let’s just hope now that there are some opportunities for learn more about Wally beyond just a potential craving for speed … and we really hope the show’s not in a rush to make him into a speedster. Him already loving to race is the most obvious connection since Ronnie and Caitlin were compared to “fire and ice.”
