‘The Bachelor’ spotlight: Will Haley Ferguson be the better twin in Ben Higgins’ eyes?

Haley -From one twin to the other. Just 12 hours after profiling Emily Ferguson as a contender on “The Bachelor,” we’re now back to do the same exact thing with her sister Haley. She is someone who could at least make it a few weeks into the competition, but given how cheesy this twist is, it’s going to be very hard for either one of them to be taken seriously by some of the women hoping to capture Ben Higgins’ heart.

As always, these articles are spoiler-free. Read with confidence!

Age – 22

Occupation – “Twin.” There’s nothing this show loves more than listing occupations as something silly so that viewers can openly mock contestants. Really, she’s a cocktail waitress like her sister.

Hometown – Las Vegas, Nevada. As we said yesterday, a place where cocktail waitresses are in demand.

Things to know – She and her sister both auditioned to be Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders, and while she works in nightclubs from time to time, she does not apparently drink or party. Therefore, she immediately stands out somewhat in a field of people this season who probably do both. Apparently the two twins developed an interest in Ben separately, and they usually have different taste in men.

Strengths – The idea that Haley doesn’t really drink or party could actually make her a little bit of an early standout, given that it is show tradition that a few people get bombed out of their mind in the premiere and make terrible impressions. “Classy” is a word that both twins use in their bio, and if they can come across as that without seeming above-it-all, they could have a shot.

Problem areas – Haley has to work on differentiating herself early from Emily, and not pull a Taylor Swift (someone she apparently idolizes) and get some “bad blood” going with some other people who are jealous of the attention that is immediately given to her as a twin. Be nice to the other women, don’t try to do silly twin gimmicks, and above all else please don’t dress in the same outfit as your sister. If you want to be taken seriously, take yourselves seriously. There is a path for someone like this to go far, but they have to not look like they’re there just to be famous.

Prediction – We think that Haley is a little more low-key than her sister, and we’ll give her a chance to maybe make it four or five episodes. We still do think that this gimmick is going to ultimately hamper her chances, though, as other women will get that serious face-time earlier on.
