‘Supergirl’ episode 8 spoilers: How many cliffhangers are there, precisely?

Supergirl -

Tonight marks the end of “Supergirl” season 1, or at least the first half of it. So, with that in mind, is it fair to say that there could be some significant surprises coming up? More than likely. You’re going to see much more of our current Big Bad Astra for one, and start to figure out a little bit more of why she is doing what she is on Earth.

While not all of the answers will be revealed until the new year, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg had the following to say in setting up the story to Entertainment Weekly:

“This becomes a very emotional episode, because it’s been very easy for Kara to be angry with Astra, and think that Astra is the villain, but Astra comes with some surprising news about Kara’s mother that begins to make Kara question the unwavering faith that she’s always put in her mother. This is a huge episode for us … We have two pretty big cliff-hangers — one emotional and one literal. Just like any of our other shows, it’s really an epic two-parter and part two kicks off when we get back in January.”

One other reason that Astra becomes so formidable an opponent to Kara is that she’s figured out a way to not allow Kryptonite to impact her, which basically means she’s the most over-powered person ever and it’s going to be pretty darn difficult for Kara to figure out a way to defeat her. Granted, we didn’t really think that this was going to happen in the first place during the winter finale.
