‘The X Factor’ UK final review: Louisa Johnson, Reggie ‘n Bollie perform winner’s single and more

X Factor -The final for “The X Factor” kicked off this weekend with every bit of ridiculous hype that you would expect. Both Reggie ‘n Bollie and Louisa Johnson had opportunities to take the stage, and we also got some relentless commentary making it even more obvious who the series wanted to see win in the end. Is she still deserving of the crown? Probably so.

This article is all about performances from the finalists. Head over here to get some other news / assorted performances from the final.

Reggie ‘n Bollie, “What Makes You Beautiful / I Like to Move It” – You can see Rita Ora’s campaign face every time she critiques these two guys at this point; sure, they were only supposed to reprise one song, but can you really blame them here. These were two of the boys’ best, and it showed off everything that they bring to the table.

Louisa Johnson, “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” – If there was a better way to show the dichotomy between these two acts, we’d love to see it. You have the creative, original rulebreakers with limited vocal ability; then, you have the traditional “X Factor” contestant with stellar vocal ability, performing a song that you tend to hear once every season of a singing show.

Winner’s single, “Forever Young”

Reggie ‘n Bollie – If there was ever a case for someone to claim that the show is a fix, it would be with this song choice. There’s no way that these two guys can deliver on a slow Bob Dylan song, and it was completely ridiculous to force them to. It’d be like giving Louisa a Pitbull song. This was chosen weeks ago, and we feel like producers probably thought there was no way these two would end up in the final.

Louisa – While Louisa was far superior vocally, to be fair it’s a little weird for a 17-year old to be singing this song, as well. Usually this song is better when performed by the more world-weary of singers. Someone should really consider individualized singles in the future.
