‘The Flash’ season 2, episode 9 video: Is Zoom entering the picture?

It has been known for some time that for Tuesday night’s midseason finale for “The Flash,” our title hero was going to be facing off against a trio of notable villains: The Trickster, Weather Wizard, and Captain Cold. Is Zoom now also going to be entering the picture?

Based on the new extended promo for the episode, it seems that first and foremost Zoom is the reason why these three characters are all attacking The Flash now. They feel like he’s the most vulnerable at the moment, and therefore could be distracted. However, this has us suspicious that maybe they need to be worried about Zoom coming back to inflict some more harm on everyone. We were a little surprised at first to learn that this season’s Big Bad may not be in the winter finale, and yet we’re starting to feel like he could be.

What we also wonder is this: Could there be a situation where these other villains are forced to work with The Flash to try and defeat Zoom? Based on what we’ve seen, this character is not someone out to be leading some sort of axis of evil for villains. He just wants all of the power for himself, and is invested in doing whatever he can in order to get it.

Ultimately, the finale just looks great. That may be somewhat of a blanket statement for an installment that is far more intricate than that, but we’re just glad to see that the writers are really thinking of ways to up the ante.
