Is ‘Madam Secretary’ season 2, episode 10 new tonight on CBS?

Madam -

The second season of “Madam Secretary” has brought us a wide array of story. Unfortunately, they are not bringing us anything new at all tonight.

After having a great run for most of the fall ever since its premiere in October, the show is not going to be coming on CBS with a new episode tonight. The reasoning behind it is to broadcast a Grammy concert event honoring Frank Sinatra, but we know that the motivation here may be somewhat questionable at this given time since their scripted shows could have benefited from lesser competition. (To be fair, the Grammy event isn’t happening until 9:00, but the network is airing a two-hour “60 Minutes” before that.)

The one good thing about the show not airing tonight is that it spares fans from even more scheduling tweaks when it comes to the start time. President Obama is set to give a speech on the recent gun violence in San Bernardino and elsewhere at 8:00 p.m. Sunday, and that is pushing most of primetime back 15 or so minutes.

When “Madam Secretary” returns next week, you’ll be treated to an episode entitled “The Greater Good.” The synopsis for it is below; let’s just say that we could have either the end of the conflict with Russia, or the beginnings of something worse:

“After they uncover a secret that could ruin Maria Ostrov’s (Angela Gots) reputation, Elizabeth and President Dalton head to Switzerland to meet with her and use the information as leverage to find a peaceful solution to the escalated conflict with Russia. Also, Dmitri requests to be released from his duties as a spy, on a cliffhanger episode.”
