‘Finding Carter’ season 2, episode 20 review: Carter learns more about Jared

The more that we learn about Jared on “Finding Carter,” the more that we start to realize that this guy is really complicated given the place that Carter’s at in her life. Remember that she is technically still a minor, and yet she’s getting involved romantically with a bartender who hired her looking at her fake ID, and someone who already has a complicated past with a wife and a child.

Was he really a bad guy? His child’s mom did everything that she could to discredit her, including showing up at a party and potentially calling the police on him. Luckily, Carter’s taken in some of the knowledge from her mom as to how to handle said situations. This, coupled with Jared bringing her proof that he has paid child support and has tried to be a good father, are enough evidence to keep this going … for now. You gotta remember everything going on with him and Ben Wallace before you label him “misunderstood.”

Also worth noting from this episode at the moment is the fact that Carter and Lori are somehow doing okay with one another, though we have no idea how this living arrangement ever came together.

That’s all the good, meaty, dramatic stuff from the episode, and most of that was compelling albeit a little cheesy. For the rest of the hour, we had to ensure a story about Grant and weed cookies, grandparents deciding to keep his accidental ingestion a secret, and then eventually learning that Max’s father was getting out of jail. Basically, we went through that whole charade for one important moment that was not really attached to any of it at all. Not sure how to feel about that. Episode Grade: B-.
