‘Jessica Jones’ season 2: Could it happen before ‘The Defenders’?

There is something so strange that comes out of writing about a show like Marvel’s “Jessica Jones,” mostly because everyone out there is going to watch it at their own pace, and form their own feelings without so much connecting to the consciousness of millions of other people at the same exact place in the story.

We don’t have any spoilers in this article, so when we’re talking about season 2 here, we are doing so conceptually. We recently speculated that it is very well possible that the show’s second season, provided there is one, could come before the ambitious miniseries “The Defenders” focusing on many of the Marvel – Netflix characters (Daredevil, Jessica, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist); speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Melissa Rosenberg made it clear that there is room for more episodes conceptually. It’s the schedule that may make another season complicated before “The Defenders” happens:

“There certainly is storytelling wise. The question becomes is there actual time? There are logistics involved, because Defenders has to shoot by a certain time, contractually. Actually, I’m not sure; I’m not at all involved in those conversations, much to my dismay. The first question is whether or not we will even get a second season. The second question is, if so, when? Will it be before The Defenders or after? I’d certainly love it to be before but there are things that play into that — time, availability.”

Our feeling right now is that given there are still “Luke Cage” and “Iron Fist” to be released, there’s probably room for at least a shortened season 2 of this show. Heck, we know almost nothing about the “Iron Fist” series at the moment.
