‘The Flash’ season 2, episode 7 preview: More on Gorilla Grodd’s latest rampage

Gorilla Grodd is by far one of the most notable villains within the world of “The Flash,” but there is no questioning that bringing this character into the world of the CW show poses enormous challenges. You only have so much money in the budget, and it costs a lot in order to make an extremely large telepathic gorilla out of CGI. This is not a “Planet of the Apes” movie where they have millions upon millions of dollars lying around for this.

In the sneak peek below, though, what we do have is hopefully enough Grodd still to satisfy. The extended promo makes it clear that for one reason or another, this Grodd is smarter than we saw him last, which just goes to show that he is continuing to evolve and hone his abilities. The power of mind control remains more imposing than his size, though, since there are few others out there who can actively hurt The Flash or anyone else, for that matter.

The problem for Barry in this episode may just be that he is not The Flash at all. He does not seem to have his speed following his battle with Zoom, which suggests that now, he and Jay Garrick are in the same position. Is there any way that he can still help to save Caitlin, who has been captured by the ape? Time will tell, but we’re hopeful since the idea of getting rid of Caitlin before the Killer Frost story really comes into existence sounds incredibly depressing.
