‘Doctor Who’ season 10 will be full 12 episodes, claims Steven Moffat

Doctor Who -So much for the talk about a shorter run for “Doctor Who” following this season.

Following some reports that the show would be shortened in size for season 10 thanks to everything from scheduling concerns to Peter Capaldi’s desire to do other things, executive producer Steven Moffat made it clear to the Radio Times that the next season will in fact be just as long as the two that came before it. The main mystery is when it will film, and then also when it will air:

“We’re making a full series. I can confirm that. I’m making a full series of 12 episodes, plus a Christmas special. I don’t know when it goes out. That’s up to someone else. And even if I did know – which I genuinely don’t – I wouldn’t be allowed to say so as I have absolutely no say in it whatsoever. [But] it’s not being reduced in size. We’re not making fewer episodes. That’s all complete bunk. I can confirm that absolutely.”

Is it possible that both the initial reports about a shorter season and Moffat’s denial are right in some bizarre way? Possibly. We can envision a scenario in which the show ends up airing a shorter run of episodes next year, and then resumes season 10 at some point in 2017. It wouldn’t be the first time that the BBC chose to air a batch of episodes that way.

Anyway, the important thing to remember here is that you are still going to be getting a whole lot more of the show, and we’re looking forward to covering it every step of the way.
