‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5, episode 6 preview: How Merida is freed

Merida -

Are you ready to see so much more of Merida on “Once Upon a Time” Sunday night? We hope so, since “The Bear and the Bow” is going to give you that opportunity and then some.

You can basically think of the new sneak-peek below as a basic introduction to what some of the Merida story will be Sunday, at least during the Camelot flashbacks. The likes of Charming, Captain Hook, and a newly-freed Merlin are going to do their part to help release her from her prison, and she of course has a specific goal for herself moving forward: Trying to find a way to rescue her family from a terrible situation.

While we know that you’ll get a chance to see some of this from Merida, her story is also going to transcend her family and cross over into a variety of other struggles in this episode and beyond. She has her training of Rumpelstiltskin, which she is as reluctant as humanly possible to do, happening during the present in Storybrooke. Also, eventually we’re going to see her team up with Mulan and Red for a key mission.

In the end, we expect this to be the big breakout episode for this character that many have been wanting to see for some time. So far, we don’t think the amount of Merida we have seen has been properly proportional at all to the amount of hype we’d seen for the character going into the season.
